San Francisco Genetic Counseling
enters agreement with
The Sperm Bank of California

May 21, 2019 - San Francisco, CA

San Francisco Genetic Counseling (SFGC) is now supporting the genetic counseling needs of The Sperm Bank of California (TSBC), located in Berkeley, California. TSBC said goodbye to their longstanding genetic counselor, Cynthia Kane, who entered retirement at the beginning of this month.  SFGC has taken over providing genetic counseling services.

The Sperm Bank of California began in 1982 as an independent, non-profit sperm bank who provides a legally protected and medically safe family building option for all people regardless of marital status or sexual orientation. TSBC operates as a leader in it the field, providing ethical family building options to a diverse community with an unwavering commitment to the well-being of parents, children, and donors.

San Francisco Genetic Counseling, owned and operated by Janine Mash, LCGC, will continue TSBC’s high quality genetic review program, implemented by Cynthia Kane, LCGC.  As always, each prospective donor will have genetic screening using a combination of personal history, family medical history and genetic carrier testing; all part of the comprehensive screening preformed on potential sperm donors.

Genetic consultations are also available either by phone or in person through SFGC.
